Part Six: A Fatal Plot
Next Part: Part Seven
Previous Part: Part Five
Plot
Sammy overhears City of Wellsworth's plot to destroy Edward, and sets out to warn him.
Script
Narrator Edward: Under my instruction, the station construction was going very well.
(Abby, Sammy, Edard, and Zachariah shunt trucks in the shadow of the nearly completed station)
Narrator Edward: In fact, we were doing so well that four days from the grand opening, all that needed to be done was the roof. I was sent out collect the glass for it.
(Cut to Brendam Docks, where Edward is collecting three covered vans. Abby is also there)
Workman: Now Edward, this glass is very important. It's one of a kind, and if it breaks, we won't be able to finish new glass in time for the opening, meaning that the station will have to close. We've cushioned it as best we can, but you still need to take care.
Edward: Of course, Sir.
Abby: Take care, Edward. I don't trust City of Wellsworth. Have yous een him recently?
Edward: Yes. He's at Suddery. Besides, what could go wrong?
Abby: Everything.
Edward: (laughing) Don't worry.
(Edward steams away)
Narrator Edward: But someone had designs for me that would have had the glass lying broken on the ground.
(Cut to Sammy, shunting trucks at Suddery)
Narrator Edward: Meanwhile, Sammy had just arrived with a local frieght train. He was shunting his trucks, when he saw City of Wellsworth talking to a tank engine with the number 3427.
Sammy: What's that City of Wellsworth up to? I'd better go find out.
(Sammy puff up into a siding nearby City of Wellsworth and 3472)
City of Wellsworth: Okay. Here's what I want you to do. Edward, he's a small blue tender engine, will be reaching Knapford at about 1:00. I want you to be there. Tell Edward that the main line is closed, and they're routing trains along the old Anopha line. Got that?
3472: Yes, sir.
Sammmy: (thinking) The Anopha line's been closed fro years! It's very unsafe!
City of Wellsworth: Once you've done that, just make sure heads in that direction. I'll be there waiting to take him out. I'll push him and his train over the cliff. It'll look like he was trying to destroy the glass, but was dragged over the edge accidently. Thus, he'll be destroyed, and his reputation will too!
(Sammy gasps and wheeshes a little to loudly)
City of Wellsworth: Did you hear something?
3472: Probably just nothing. I get ten trucks of coal for this, right?
City of Wellsworth: Of course! Now go!
(Both engines puff away)
Sammy: I've got to warn Edward!
Narrator Edward: And he steamed away to warn me.
(Cut to Edward, who has just reached Knapford. 3472 is waiting)
3472: Hey! You!
Edward: Yes?
3472: The main line's been closed for repairs. They're routing trains along the Anopha line, instead.
Edward: But isn't that line unsafe?
3472: They've repaired it.
Edward: All right.
Narrator Edward: And I unknowingly puffed onto the Anopha line and towards my anticipated doom.
