FanFic: The Sodor Engines Characters: Evening Star

Evening Star (Eve) is a 9F locomotive, and part of the National Collection. She was the last steam engine ever built in Britain for many decades.

History

Eve was built at Swindon Railway Works in 1960, and given the number 92220. She worked in the Western Region of British Railways until withdrawal in 1965. She was mainly kept on static display in the National Railway Museum in York, but was still capable of running.

In 1980, she was part of the railway show at the Museum. She was to be a part of the ceremony on the final night with Thomas. She met him the day before, and they were soon fast friends. Later, Thomas was trainnapped by Diesel 10, now in the form of D0010. As no one knew where Thomas was, Eve was forced to begin the ceremony on her own. What neither she nor any of the other engines knew was that Diesel 10 had planted a bomb that was due to explode during the final ceremony.

Fortunately, Thomas was able to warn the other engines about the bomb. Eve was escaping with the others when she jammed a cylinder. Thomas helped her escape the shed, but took the brunt of the force of the bomb when it exploded. Eve was less damaged, but both of the two were stuck amongst the burning rubble. Unable to admit defeat, Eve pulled Thomas free of the wreckage and they both made it to safety.

When there was no more room in the collection for Eve and a few other engines, Sir Topham Hatt allowed them to stay on his railway for as long as they needed. Eve now works the main line, and is very happy there.

Personality

Eve is very kind and helpful, with a lot of determination. She's a hard worker, but can be stubborn at times.
Eve understands that she is the last steam engine ever built in England (at least as of 1980). The fact that she is the last of her kind often makes her feel lonely and depressed,. However, this is easily remedied by being with her friends.

Basis

Eve is based on a BR 9F class locomotive, making her a sibling of Murdoch. Eve is a real engine.
