FanFic:The Sodor Engines: Duck
Duck is a Great Western tank engine.
History
Duck was built for the GWR in 1929. He worked there until 1970, and developed an intense pride in the line. He was purchased by the NWR to shunt trucks at Knapford yards. There was some confusion on the part of Percy (who thought he was going to be scrapped), but everything worked out in the end.
Duck shunted at the yards for about two years. In 1972, he noticed suspicious behavior on the part of the other engines. It turned out that he was to receive his own branch line. The surprise was nearly spoiled but things worked out perfectly. Duck now works on the line, nicknamed "The Little Western", with Oliver. He has two coaches, Alice, and Mirabel, although he sometimes pulls Sally and Meredith.
Personality
Duck is clever, funny, and stubborn. He doesn't like anyone telling him what to do except Sir Topham Hatt.
Duck is immensely proud of his Great Western heritage. His catchphrase is: "There are two ways to do things. The Great Western way, or the wrong way." The engines sometimes get tired of this, and insult the railway ("That tin-pot railway!" "Will you be quiet about the Great Way Round?"), causing much indignation form Duck.
Basis
Duck is based on the GWR 57xx tank engine.
