FanFic:The Sodor Engines: Rosie

Rosie is a little pink tank engine.

History

Rosie was built in 1941 and was shipped to Europe for use in the war. Her time in the war is an issue she prefers not to bring up, although it is certain she ran trains in wartime France (indeed, she speaks fluent French). She was bought by the Southern Railway and worked as a shunter until modernization. Luckily, she was able to work as a shunter at Swindon for several years, but that job also didn't last. Rosie was due for scrap when she was bought by the NWR in 1974.

When she arrived, Rosie was teased by the other engines because she was smaller and weaker than them. However, she proved all of them wrong by helping out Thomas when he broke down with a special. She is more respected now, but will eagerly prove her worth if anyone doubts it.

When Diesel 10 tried to take over Sodor in 1976, Rosie was one of the engines who aided Thomas. She helped him rescue Lady, and was there when he defeated Diesel 10.

Rosie worked the shunting yards for almost ten years before Sir Topham Hatt decided that she would run the newly opened Kirk Ronan branch line. She currently takes freight and passenger trains on the line, with the help of Peter and Billy (and sometimes Jones). However, she'll always help out on any of the other branch lines, or even work as a shunter.

Personality

Rosie is kind and cheeky. Indeed, she can almost be seen as a female counterpart to Thomas. She can be headstrong at times, and she has a lot of determination. This was exemplified when she once tried to work despite boiler trouble, although she eventually burst a tank.

Rosie's closest friend is probably Thomas, although their similar personalities make it hard for them to be in the same area for extended periods of time without causing trouble.

Rosie is very friendly, and is well liked by the other engines. Once, she went to extreme lengths to befriend the shy engine Molly.

Basis

Rosie is based on a USA "Dock Tank" locomotive.
