Plot

While taking a goods train to the Other Railway, Thomas and Percy meet Oliver, a Great Western engien fleeing scrap. They promise to help him, but they have to dodge two diesels named 'Arry and Bert that were sent to find him.

Script

Narrator: It was nighttime. Thomas and Percy had just pulled into the scrapyard at Barrow-in-Furness, having arrived there with a goods train.

Foreman: Wait here while the tracks are cleared. You can leave shortly. (He leaves)

Percy: This scrapyard always gives me the jitters. Although I suppose it's better than Barry Island.

(Thomas pales)

Thomas: Don't mention that place!

Narrator: Just then, a loud wheeshing sound, like that of steam escaping, echoed through the siding. A muffled voice growled angrily.

Voice: That's torn it! We're stuck!

Narrator: Thomas puffed forward to investigate.

Thomas: Who's there?

Voice: (whispering) They've found us! (to Thomas) Are you a diesel?

Thomas: No.

Voice: Are you here to scrap me?

Thomas: Heavens, no. I don't even know who you are.

Voice: My name's Oliver. I'm in the shed.

(Cut to a goods shed, where Thomas and Percy are looking at Oliver, a rusted GWR tank engine, a brake van, and an autocoach)

Oliver: This is Toad, my brake van, and Isabel, my coach. We're fleeing scrap. There are two diesels after us. We'd almost made it to the North Western Railway when my cylinder broke.

Percy: We're from the North Western Railway. We'll help you home.

Oliver: Thank you so much! We've been using fake forms and the like to get past guards. Once we're over the channel, they can't catch us.

Narrator: Thomas ran to the front, and Percy to the back.

(Oliver's theme plays)

Thomas: Can you shut that off? We're trying to escape, and we don't want anyone hearing us.

Narrator: Sorry.

(The music stops)

Narrator:They steamed out of the shed and through the yards.

Oliver: We're running nicely now!

Narrator: But they were stopped at the station by a stationmaster.

Thomas: We're just taking this engine to scrap.

(Stationmaster examines forms)

Stationmaster: Everything seems to be in order here. Carry on.

Narrator: They continued towards the bridge. Just afterwards, two 08 diesels pulled up. One's nameplate read ARRY, the other BERT.

'Arry: Have you seen a Great Western tank engine?

Stationmaster: Yes. He was just taken away by two other engines.

Bert: We've missed them! They can't be too far away.

Narrator: Toad, who was riding at the back, called out in alarm.

Toad: They've found us!

Oliver: Hurry! They won't give up now, with me so close!

Narrator: Thomas and Percy sped down the line at full speed, with the diesels close behind. But try as they might, the two tank engines couldn't stop the inevitable closing of the gap.

Thomas: One more try!

Narrator: He whistled loudly. In the signalbox, the signalman saw the engines and changed the points out of the siding. They steamies sped onto the main line. But 'Arry and Bert, who were on the next track, couldn't. They charged into a large pile of scrap, sending it toppling onto them.

(Cut to 'Arry and Bert, half-buried in scrap)

Bert: (to 'Arry) This is your fault!

Narrator: Meanwhile, Thomas, Percy, and Oliver steamed onto the bridge. Thomas and Percy whistled happpily.

(Oliver's theme begins again, louder than ever)

Oliver: We're over the border! They can't stop us now!

Narrator: Thoams and Percy dropped off Oliver, Toad, and Isabel at the works.

Thomas: We'll tell Sir Topham Hatt about you. He'll have you restored. Everything will be all right!

Narrator: And they steamed away from their new friend.
