FanFic: The Sodor Engines Characters: Diesel 10

Diesel 10 is an evil diesel engine.

History

Diesel 10 was built in the late 1950s as an experimental engine. He was given a claw that he could use to lift items without the need for a crane. He was also built to be incredibly strong and fast. On his original railway, the steam engines mocked him, causing him to grow to hate them.

He arrived on Sodor on loan in 1976. He saw it as a golden opportunity to destroy the island's steamies. Plotting with Stephen, Diesel, Dodge, and Splatter, he poisoned the island's coal supplies and captured for Lady, preparing to destroy her. His plan went well until Thomas, Percy, Rosie, and Toby were able to recapture Lady and take her to Barrow-in-Furness. along the way, he was betrayed by Stephen, and found that the steamies had all banded together.

However, his victory seemed assured when he took over the yard. He was preparing to shunt Thomas into a pit of molten metal, but Thomas put up more resistance than expected. Eventually, Thomas's effort caused him to break apart. He fell to pieces, and knocked over a pile of a scrap. His remains were buried and mixed with the debris, making it near impossible for him to be rebuilt.

However, in 1980, the pile containing his remains was smelted into a Class 47 diesel. Miraculously, Diesel 10's mind appears to have survived the destruction, and he soon adjusted to his new form. D0010 (as he was now known) was sent to York to help prepare for the show at the National Railway Museum. When he arrived, he caused trouble by prompting Duck and Natalie to fight, stealing Gordon's tender, and trying to run Percy off the rails. His final scheme was destroy the final ceremony with a bomb. He trainnapped Thomas as a safeguard to prevent him from stopping his plan. Thomas escaped and warned the others. D0010 was damaged by the blast and thrown onto a canal bank. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Personality

Diesel 10 is brutally cruel and evil. His mind is focused on one goal: destroying as many steamies as possible. Diesel 10 has no merciful or caring side, and is angry at everyone and everything. He is overbearingly devious, but lacks foresight and is not too intelligent. He can also be overconfident, which led to both his downfalls.

Basis

Diesel 10 is based on a BR class 42 with a non-regulation (and thus illegal) claw. D0010 is based on a BR class 47 diesel engine.
