Transcript

Part One

Narrator: Thomas was worried - so many workmen were needed his branchline, but Annie and Clarabel weren't able to carry them all. Bertie the bus did his best to help.

Thomas: We need another coach to help run this line.

Narrator: But one day, Bertie didn't feel well. Annie and Clarabel were on their own. More workmen climbed into them, that some went in Clarabel's luggage compartment.

Clarabel: {shrieks} Help! I can't be able to move!

Workmen: We can't either! We're too squashed together!

Narrator: Annie and Clarabel were fuller than ever before. It took Thomas a minute or two starting.

Thomas: {impatiently} Come on! Come on! Come ON! COME ON!

Narrator: His wheels slipped on damp rails. Thomas and his two coaches struggled hard as they could, until they came Gordon's hill. Thomas puffed hard as he could, but when he was almost at the top, it happened!

Thomas: Help! I can't stop!

Narrator: The weight of Annie and Clarabel was too much for Thomas. Unluckily, Molly was coming with a mixed train, and when she saw Thomas, she stopped abruptly!

Molly: Oh no!

Narrator: Clarabel smashed into Molly, and they stopped. Clarabel wasn't badly damaged, but Molly was quite hurt. Dennis and Neville arrived with Sir Topham Hatt.

Annie: Oh, dear!

Clarabel: That means trouble, I think.

Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas, Molly, I know it wasn't either of your faults, but we need another engine for Thomas' branchline. And Molly's brakes have damaged. She must be sent to the Sodor Steamworks to have them replaced.

Thomas: I'm sorry about your accident, Molly.

Molly: Never mind, Thomas. I should've paid attention to the signal.

Narrator: Dennis took Molly to the Steamworks, and Neville took over from Molly, and took some of Thomas' workmen.

Sir Topham Hatt: Clarabel, I'm planning to convert you into a composite coach, so in the meantime, another coach will be found.

Clarabel: Thank you, sir, I guess.

Narrator: Sir Topham Hatt tired desperately to look for another coach like Annie and Clarabel, but he had no luck. He eventually decided to give up. A few days later, Emily stopped at Elsbridge Station to wait for Spencer's express. As she waited, she heard a buzzing noise coming from the platform. There was a rustling, and a loud crash. A man's head appeared in the hedge. He had a saw in his hands.

Man: Whew! It's nice to see the railway once more. It's been a jungle in here!

Narrator: Later, Emily stopped there again.

A girl voice: Hello?

Narrator: Emily was surprised. Her driver had heard it too. He looked over the hedge, and saw an old, broken down railway coach.

Emily's driver: What's your name?

Brittany: {shyly} Brittany. Are you Emily's driver?

Narrator: Before he could answer, the guard's whistle blew, and she had to go.

Sing-a-Long Segment

{Cut to Thomas and Emily at Tidmouth Sheds}

Thomas: Now comes the part of the show which I enjoy best of all: the sing-along! In which you folks at home join in and sing the lyrics of the next song right along with us! You ready, lads? And a-one, and a-two, and a-

Emily: Hold on a minute, Thomas!

Thomas: What's the problem, Emily?

Emily: You can't expect the people at home to just join in cold like that!

Thomas: I can't?

Emily: Of course not! First you got to put them in the correct mood with the proper props!

Thomas: Well, what sort of decorations would you suggest for this next song? - it's a really wild rhythm!

Emily: Wild, you say? {quickly assembles an amazon forest and dresses as a wild hunter} There! How's that?

Thomas: This is the most preposterous thing I've ever seen, Emily! Do you actually think that these props will make anyone believe they're really in-

{Emily fires her gun by mistake and an elephant charges by.}

Thomas: Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!

Emily: See, it's even got you believing it! {laughs}

Thomas: Sing, please.

The Beatles:
Ooh I need your love babe,
Guess you know it's true.
Hope you need my love babe,
Just like I need you.

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love babe,
Eight days a week.

Love you ev'ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing I can say girl,
Love you all the time.

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love girl,
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
I love you.
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care.

Love you ev'ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing I can say girl,
Love you all the time.

Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love babe,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week.

{Cut back to Tidmouth Sheds.}

Thomas: That wasn't bad for a warm up, but in this next number, I expect to hear each and every one of you singing at the top of his lungs! Are you ready now?

Emily: Thomas, oh, Thomas!

Thomas: Now what?

Emily: You forgot about the props, remember?

Thomas: Oh not that nonsense about redecorating the sheds for each song.

Emily: Right you are. It helps put the audience in the proper mood.

Thomas: Oh, all right. Well, this next number is an absolute knockout! Now, what have you got for that?

Emily: Just you watch! {quickly assembles a wrestling ring with a kid wrestler licking a lollipop, Emily dressed as a wrestler}

Thomas: What in blinking blue blazes is that?!

Emily: You said the next song was a knockout! {bell rings}

{Emily is knocked out by the kid, who punches her in the eye, giving her a black eye.}

Thomas: Of course! Now I get it - a knockout!

Emily: Could we change that to a lull-a-bye? {laughs}

Thomas: Oh, sing, children.

Part Two

Narrator: At Knapford, Thomas told Emily about the workmen.

Thomas: {sadly} I really need another railway coach.

Emily: {excitedly} But we just found one! She's in an orchard near the river, and she's old, and lonely...

Emily's driver: She's got no wheels and her roof leaks live a sieve. Don't even think about it.

Narrator: But Emily did think about it, and asked Sir Topham Hatt. Sir Topham Hatt listened, so made some arrangements for Clarabel and Brittany.

Sir Topham Hatt: Annie, Clarabel, it's going to be all right. Don't worry about another coach, I have decided that Clarabel will be converted to a composite railway coach the next morning.

Narrator: The next morning, Thomas took Clarabel to the Sodor Steamworks to be converted, and when he arrived later to see Clarabel, she looked the almost same on the outside, but different inside. Sir Topham Hatt spoke to Thomas.

Sir Topham Hatt: Thomas, Clarabel ill now be a composite coach like Annie. We are restoring Brittany to be a really useful coach again.

{Sir Topham Hatt points to an old railway brake coach with eight windows on each side, dull red color, no wheels and a leaking roof.}

Sir Topham Hatt: Brittany, Victor will make sure you'll be really useful once more.

Victor: Of course, sir, anything for you, sir. I will do my very, very best! We all will!

{Crash!}

Kevin: Sorry, boss! {giggles nervously, as he dropped some pipes}

Victor: {nervously} Uh, I'm sorry, sir. Very slippy hook...

Sir Topham Hatt: I see... {Victor looks at Kevin sternly}

Thomas: Well, don't worry, Brittany. Victor's the best!

{Montage of Brittany being repaired: new windows are being placed; Kevin crashing on his side, Victor sighs frustrated; the workmen fit new wheels on Brittany; a crane arm lowers Brittany onto her wheels; the workmen paint new brown paint with yellow stripe on Brittany. As this happens, "Showdown" from sbemail 117: montage plays.}

Narrator: At last, Brittany was ready. Thomas, Emily, Annie and Clarabel had come to see her prepare for her first trip in years. Sir Topham Hatt was there.

Sir Topham Hatt: There can't be many railways that have a train consisting of an engine and three coaches, but Thomas, Annie, Brittany, and Clarabel are valuable members of my crew. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you three cheers to Thomas' passenger train!

Crowd: Hip, hip, hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

Thomas: Now Thomas and his three coaches take passengers along the branch line, and you will see Percy taking his coaches when Thomas is busy. He knows he is very lucky, and so do his coaches. Brittany went between Annie and Clarabel, and the others teased him and called it Thomas' ABC, for the order, but he doesn't mind because Clarabel wanted a good view.

Brittany: This is much better than being a summerhouse in an orchard, and it's good to be useful again.

Narrator: I think we can be sure that Brittany will be really useful for years to come.
