Character: Andrew the Red Express Engine
Bio
Andrew was built by the North Western Railway in 1926 due to increase in passenger work. When put to service he ignored the other engines' advice and thought he knew best, and didn't get along with Gordon or Henry.
In 1936, he had a terrible accident. Andrew was pulling the Midnight Express, as the name implies, leaves Tidmouth for the Other Railway. On the way, Andrew sped up on Gordon's hill and derailed from the viaduct.
Next morning, Andrew was recovered, and as punishment, was withdrawn from express service. His tender was sold to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, as the Black 5's were coming to existence.
In 1961, when Henry was undergoing overhaul, Andrew's boiler was given to Henry and he was finally scrapped. One night in 1966, thirty years after his accident, his runaway ghost was spotted. The workmen went to pull up the rails to stop it, but he never came.
They say Andrew's spirit still haunts Sodor every year on the date of the accident, and they say if you're working at midnight, you can hear him laughing evilly plotting his revenge.
Personality
Andrew was rude and stuck-up - Edward believes this may have been because of the nature of his naming. He bullied the tank engines and put too much faith in all the warnings he was given, and paid the price.
