FanFic:The Sodor Engines Railways: The Skarloey Railway

From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere

The Skarloey railway is a narrow gauge railway that runs through the mountains of Sodor.

History

The railway was built in 1948 under Sir Handel Brown, the first controller. Four engines were brought in to build it: Skarloey, Rheneas, Freddie, and Duke. Mr. Peter Sam and Mr. Ivo Hugh also greatly contributed to the construction of the line.

A fifth engine, called Smudger, was also purchased to help. However, he rode roughly and after a very bad accident he was sold to a mine as a generator.

After construction, Freddie was sent away for an overhaul. In 1965, five more engines arrived: Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Rusty, Duncan, and Ivo Hugh. The line continued to expand, and traffic increased.

Some old faces returned; Freddie came back in 1975, and Smudger was found and restored two years later.
