Fanfic: End of an Era Part Two: A New Home
Part Two: A New Home
Johnny arrives in his new home and meets the other engines.
Script
(Johnny puffs across the countryside, most of it ruined and polluted. The tracks begin to slope upward, and soon they are in the low, and mostly cleaner, mountains)
Johnny: Sir, where is the railway?
Mr. Capp: We're not far now. You'll love the SVR. I'll have you meet the others, then you can get right to work.
(Johnny steams through the mountains. The song Appalachian Hymn is played)
(Cut to a small yard. Johnny has arrived and Mr. Capp drives him over to a shed where three engines are waiting. One is a small, dark blue 0-6-0 tank engine, one is a medium-sized, grey, 4-4-0 tender engine, and one is a large, streamlined, 4-8-4 express locomtive painted black except for a maroon stripe along his side)
Mr. Capp: (steps down from Johnny's footplate) Everyone, I have recently purchased a new engine. His name is Johnny. I want you all to be very welcoming and help him get a feel for the railway. He'll be pulling light freight and passenger on the main line.
Johnny: Hello.
(The blue engine smiles)
Blue engine: Hello. I'm Marian.
Mr. Capp: Marian shunts trucks here in the yard. This (points to the grey engine) is Scout. She pulls the mainline freight trains.
Scout: Salutations.
Mr. Capp: And this (points to black engine) is Jay. He's our main passenger locomotive.
Jay: (grouchily) Hello.
Mr. Capp: Marian, why don't you show Johnny around?
(Marian shows Johnny all the lines and stations)
Johnny: How are the other engines?
Marian: Well, Scout's all right. She's very clever and hard-working, but can be a little bit of a spoilsport. She came from British Railways before it closed.
Johnny: Okay. what about Jay?
Marian: Well . . . He can be kind of grumpy, but his heart's in the right place. he's been stuck in a museum for half a century, so you know how it must feel.
Johnny: And what about you? WHere did you come from?
(Marian seems worried)
Marian: Well, I, . . . Look! There's the yards! It's getting pretty dark. I think we should head for the sheds.
(Cut to the sheds)
Jay: Silly passengers! Do they ever stop complaining? They're so annoying!
Scout: Well, you're no Thomas yourself.
Johnny: Who's Thomas?
(All the engines look shocked)
Marian: You don't know? He's the most famous engine ever! He comes fromt he legendary island of Sodor! He's kind, clever, a little bit cheeky, and all around amazing! He's saved his railway dozens of times, and everyone loves him!
Johnny: Oh. Well, good night, everyone.
Scout, Marian, and Jay: G'night.
(The engines all fall asleep)
