FanFic:Last of the Railroads Character Biographies: Johnny
Johnny is a cheeky tank engine and the protagonist of the 2016 television series Last of the Railroads.
History
Johnny was built in 2025 during the "Railroad Renaissance". As he was poorly built, Johnny was prone to bouts of illness. He faithfully ran his small industrial railway for several years. Unfortuneatly, Johnny's engineer died, and his railway closed soon afterward. Johnny fled, but was caught and taken to the Great Railway Auction House.
The little tank engine was refused by the major railway museums, but was bought at the last minute by the last privately owned railway in the world, the Smoky Valley Railroad. He made some friends and was happy there, but could never fully become "part of the family", that is to say, he never really felt that he fit in.
After a devastating accident that was his own fault, Johnny was shunned by his friends and forbidden from going to a "grand railway show" at the Capitol. Johnny later discovered that his companions had been tricked, and with the help of Thomas, rescued them. In the process, Johnny confronted his mirror image, D2000, who like him was prone to illness and shunned by the museums. He helped his friends escape, but was badly damaged by a collapsing shed. The small locomotive was repaired by two children, and after two months was finally running well again. During this monumental overhaul, his design flaws were fixed, and never had his sudden illnesses again.
A few days later, Johnny was presented with a short branch line to have all to himself, and was truly adopted into his home.
Personality
Johnny is a cheeky engine, and likes to have fun. Despite this, he has a good heart and the other engines like him very much. Johnny has a lot of determination and stubbornness; he rarely gives up on something unless he is forced to.
Basis
When built, Johnny was designed as a Fowler Class 3F tank engine. Unfortunately, he was poorly constructed, which caused his erratic performance. After his overhaul, Johnny has longer side tanks, a partially open cab, and an extra dome to handle his excess steam.
