Sōbu Main Line
Sōbu Main Line (総武本線 Sōbu-honsen?) is a railway line between Tokyo and the east coast of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company. It runs through the cities of Funabashi, Chiba, and Choshi.
Its name derives from the old name of the area which it serves: Musashi Province (武蔵国), Shimousa Province (下総国) and Kazusa Province (上総国).
Local trains between Ochanomizu Station and Chiba Station are called the Sobu-Kanko Line. There are also rapid service trains from Tokyo Station to Chiba Station called the Sobu-Kaisoku Line. For the most part, these trains use the same line, except when they reach Tokyo: Sobu-Kanko trains continue onto the Chūō Line, while Sobu-Kaisoku trains continue onto the Yokosuka Line.
The Narita Express(N'EX) service to Narita International Airport and the Ayame to Chōshi uses the Sobu Line and Narita Line for its journey. The Shiosai service from Tokyo to Choshi also uses this line.
Tokyo Metro Tozai Line passes through from Nishi-Funabashi Station to the through train terminus of Tsudanuma Station on the Sobu Line.
