NBR G Class

Class Y9 8106 inside Kipps Shed in July 1949. A year after nationalisation, it has yet to receive its BR number, 68106. Note the tender, used for carrying extra coal and the dumb buffers to prevent buffers interlocking while shunting.

The North British Railway (NBR) G Class is a class of 0-4-0ST steam locomotive designed for shunting. The LNER classified them Y9.

One NBR 14 (BR 68095) has survived to preservation in the Scottish Railway Preservation Society and is a static exhibit.
