Transcript
Narrator: Thomas Jr. is a tank engine on the Island of Sodor. He's a little blue engine with six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short stumpy dome. Thomas Jr. is the son of Thomas and Molly. He is a very shy and sensitive little engine, and worries about messing up. He pulls goods trains on the branchline, and mostly works with either Molly or his big sister May, but occasionally works with Thomas, too.
{Cut to Tidmouth Sheds. Thomas Jr. backs into the sheds. With him is May, Kelly (Percy and Lady's daughter), Ash (Stanley and Wendy's son), Brock (Toby and Flora's son), and Victoria (Henry and Emily's daughter).}
Thomas Jr.: {sighs miserably}
Ash: (silver tank engine) Dude, are you okay?
Thomas Jr.: Yeah... I'm just tired, that's all.
Victoria: (green tender engine) He don't look sleepy to me.
May: (yellow tender engine) I think he's sad about something.
Brock: (brown tram engine) Maybe it's workload he's had today. {chuckles}
May: I think it's another reason.
Narrator: Thomas Jr. sighed again and went unhappily to sleep. Next morning, he went to the water tower for a drink. But then, Brendan showed up in front of him. He was spitting image of James, with the exception of his yellow stripes like his mother Daisy.
Brendan: Hey! I'm using the water tower!
Thomas Jr.: But I got here first.
Brendan: Yeah, well, you're smaller than me! I'm more important, so I'm using it first!
Narrator: Thomas Jr. sadly waited while Brendan used the water tower. Once he had his drink, he shunted the express at Knapford. The express is called the Wild Nor'Wester, and is full of people from England, Wales and Scotland. Then, Orian backed onto the train.
Thomas Jr.: {nervously} Uh, hope you have a nice day...?
Orian: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Useless blue puffball.
Narrator: Thomas Jr. was very upset. That was mean of Orian to bully him. Later that afternoon, he was helping May and Thomas in the yard. But Thomas Jr.'s heart wasn't in it. He was feeling more miserable than usual.
Thomas: Son, is everything all right?
Thomas Jr.: {sniff} No. I wish for an adventure. I never had one in my life.
Thomas: You'll have an adventure one day; just be patient.
Narrator: Thomas Jr. wasn't sure. Drew - Diesel's son - was nearby, and heard what they had said. So he made a plan and told Iron James and Jessie about it.
Drew: So when we see Number One the Second, you're to crash truck into him, got that?
Iron Jessie: That is a good plan!
Iron James: Yeah, I agree, Jess!
Narrator: Meanwhile, Thomas Jr. was in a siding when Duck pulled up alongside him with a goods train.
Duck: What's the matter with you, Thomas Jr.?
Thomas Jr.: I've never had an adventure in my life. Is it true what Orian and Brendan say?
Duck: What did they say?
Thomas Jr.: Brendan says I'm not important, and Orian said I'm useless because I'm small.
Duck: I never let that get me down. Back when I worked on the Great Western, they called me Duck because I waddled like one. I just ignore them and carry on with my work.
{Duck puffs away.}
Narrator: Thomas Jr. tried what Duck had told him, but it wasn't easy because he couldn't help listening to the insults Orian and Brendan called him. He explained the situation to Thomas and Molly.
Thomas: Thomas Jr., you're not useless. You're a really useful engine.
Molly: What gave you the idea?
Thomas Jr.: I don't know. Maybe Orian's right. {sheds a tear}
May: Don't think that way, little brother! I believe you're as big as you feel.
Narrator: Thomas Jr. wasn't sure he was big as he felt. One late-afternoon, he was shunting Gordon's express at Knapford. But Gordon didn't show up. The stationmaster came up to Thomas Jr.
Stationmaster: Gordon's broken a cylinder and is at the Sodor Steamworks. There is no other engine to take the passengers home, and Spencer is away in England.
Thomas Jr.: Can I go to England to take these passengers? I can prove to the others that I'm a really useful engine like my dad is!
Stationmaster: Very well, then. Good luck.
Narrator: With full steam, Thomas Jr. set off for England. He was getting his adventure after all. Thomas Jr. raced by Wellsworth, wheeshed up Gordon's Hill, and whooshed by Maron, without stopping to ease his axles. He arrived at England, and came to a complete stop. Thomas Jr. was tired, but pleased with himself.
Thomas Jr.: Whew! What a run.
{Meanwhile, in a siding}
Iron Jessie: I don't believe it! You were supposed to ram him!
Iron James: He was too fast for me to ram! It's not my fault.
Narrator: Thomas Jr. was too tired to return to Sodor, so he stayed overnight with the big engines. They appreciated his company. Next morning, he was ready for his return trip to Sodor. He was thinking about what he would say to Orian when he returned. Just then, the guard's whistle blew, and he set off for Sodor. Meanwhile, up ahead, Iron James and Jessie had shunted coal trucks on his line.
Iron James: Heh heh heh!
Iron Jessie: He'll be useless to the railway when the story's spread!
Narrator: The two diesels oiled away, laughing. Thomas Jr. was puffing up fast, be he couldn't stop in time!
Thomas Jr.: Oh nooooooo!!!
{CRASH!}
Narrator: No one was hurt, but Thomas Jr. was covered in coal dust. Iron James and Jessie saw from the siding.
Iron James: Heh heh! The blue puffball's going to be late, and no one saw the whole thing!
Narrator: The two diesels rolled away and told Drew about what happened.
Drew: So the express is delayed?
Iron James: Yes! No one saw us shunt those coal trucks.
Drew: Good. The blue puffball's no use to them now, is he? {chuckles evilly}
Narrator: Unfortunately for them, May had seen and heard the whole thing. So she helped he brother from the mess.
May: Are you okay, Thomas Jr.?
Thomas Jr.: {coughs} Yeah... a little...
Narrator: Thomas Jr. and the express were taken by May back to Knapford Station. Thomas Jr. explained the whole story.
Gordon: Well, you may be small, but you're a useful engine like your father is.
Thomas Jr.: It's a good thing too.
Narrator: Later, Thomas Jr. was having a washdown. Orian showed up, covered in coal dust.
Orian: Hey, you! I need a wash!
Thomas Jr.: {cheekily} Sorry, Orian, but I'm already having one! You need to be here early if you want to be clean and complemented by your dad! {laughs}
Narrator: Orian seethed in fury. When Thomas Jr. was cleaned, Orian had his turn, but was still furious about what Thomas Jr. had said to him. Meanwhile, Drew was furious at Iron James and Jessie when he found out.
Drew: {angry} Well, but it turns out you were seen!
Iron James: Impossible! I made sure.
Drew: Don't argue with me! You were seen!
Iron Jessie: I blame it on Iron James!
Iron James: Not my fault! It was your idea!
Narrator: The three diesels argued over who's fault it was. But Thomas Jr. knew that he was still a really useful engine, if he was big or small.
