Character: Edward the Blue Engine
Bio
Falcon was built by Sharp Stewart and Company in 1896 and arrived on Sodor in 1923 along with a tank engine named Stuart. They worked with a magical tank engine called Lady (who arrived in 1910), Stanley (who was built and arrived in 1932), No. 5 (who arrived 1937), and No. 6 (who arrived 1940). They worked well until 1948, when the North Western Railway was sold to Sir Topham Hatt.
Falcon was renamed to Edward in 1948. He had a slow but steady trust of diesels since 1961, befriending a Class 28 named Boco. Despite his age, Edward still has plenty of life in him left, as in 1995, he showed James he wasn't too old to be a really useful engine.
Personality
Edward is kind-hearted and always keen to help a friend in need. The small engines trust him to lend a listening ear and sympathetic advice. He is a hard worker too, and always does his best to finish a job.
Sadly, the big engines often see Edward as old-fashioned and slow. While it is true he is the oldest engine on the North Western Railway - it must be noted he helped build it - he has proved time and time again that he is more than capable of working as hard as any engine, but he is a more clever and wiser engine, too.
