Part One

Narrator: It was snowing on the Island of Sodor. The railway lines had never been so thick with snow. Sir Topham Hatt arrived at Tidmouth Sheds in Harold the Helicopter. He had some bad news.

Sir Topham Hatt: Due to heavy snowfall, the roads and rails are blocked by heavy snow! But, that will not stop my railway from running! Donald and Douglas are going to plow the snow on the main line so Gordon can still run the Express today!

Narrator: Gordon was pleased.

Sir Topham Hatt: Henry, Edward, you two must work with Eagle to take coal up to the mountain village and for the narrow gauge engines. And Thomas... you are to work with Emily, Toby, Duck, and Diesel in taking passengers as well as Bertie the Bus because he can’t run the roads today.

Narrator: Thomas frowned. He liked working with Emily, Toby, and Duck, but Diesel was different.

Sir Topham Hatt: Percy, Stanley, and Oliver will stand by as a rescue team, and you all have to wear snowploughs.

Narrator: All the engines groaned in annoyance. Thomas was too cold to put up a fuss at the fitting yard. He went to the carriage shed, collected Annie and Clarabel and they all headed to Knapford. Thomas puffed into Knapford Station. Emily was already there, with Martha and Jennifer.

Thomas: Hi, Emily.

Emily: {through gritted teeth} Can't talk.

Thomas: Why?

Narrator: Emily signaled Thomas with her eyes towards some children in a nearby field. They were building a snow engine. It looked a lot like Emily.

Emily: {through gritted teeth} I have to sit perfectly still for it to be perfect!

Narrator: Just then, Toby and Duck puffed in.

Toby: Sorry we're late, the coaches were buried by snow so we had to wait for the workmen to clear it off.

Duck: And, I had to get my snowplough fitted, because Toby has cowcatchers.

Thomas: I wish Donald and Douglas could travel along my branch line and clear it of snow.

Narrator: Then a loud horn sound blew through the air, shaking some snow off the glass roof of Knapford and landing on top of Thomas, Toby, Duck and Emily.

Emily: @&$! it! My chances of having a snow engine replica are ruined!

Narrator: Diesel pulled in blowing his horn loudly. He noticed the four engines.

Diesel: {to Thomas, Emily, Toby, and Duck} Look at you lot! Wearing snowploughs! I don’t need a snowplough. Snow is silly soft stuff.

Thomas: Snow can be dangerous, too! I was stuck in a snowdrift once, I had to be rescued by Terence the tractor.

Diesel: I don’t need some little orange tractor to help me.

Narrator: The others said nothing. They had heard Diesel's boasting before. He bumped his coaches, and they didn't like it one bit.

Coaches: Ouch! That was too bad!

Narrator: To make Diesel even more cross, this time, no one came near him. The guard's whistle blew, and Diesel started in a huff.

Diesel: Silly engines. I don't need a snowplough.

Sing-a-Long Segment

{Cut to Percy and Emily at Tidmouth Sheds}

Percy: Now, everyone ready for the sing-along? This is the part of the show in which all you people at home join in and sing along with us. Now this first song starts off with a real bang!

Emily: Hold everything, Percy! Did I just hear you say this song starts off with a bang?

Percy: My very words.

Emily: Well if you really expect the people at home to join in, you first ought to put them in the right mood.

Percy: The right mood?

Emily: Certainly! You got to create the proper atmosphere! Here, I'll show you!

{Emily quickly assembles a tent, a cannon, and dresses herself as a soldier, and blows on the trumpet.}

Emily: Well, what do you think?

Percy: I think you've flipped your blinking smokebox!

Emily: Well you said this next song starts off with a... {tries to stop the cannon from firing, but cannon shoots out a flag saying "BANG!"} ...bang! {laughs}

{BANG! The cannon explodes, and Percy and Emily are black as soot.}

Emily: You sure you wouldn't rather do smoke gets into your eyes? {laughs again}

Percy: Sing people...

The Beatles:
Baby's good to me, you know,
She's happy as can be, you know,
She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.
Baby says she's mine, you know,
She tells me all the time, you know,
She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.
I'm so glad that she's my little girl.
She's so glad, she's telling all the world
That her baby buys her things, you know.

He buys her diamond rings, you know,
She said so.
She's in love with me and I feel fine, mmm.

Baby says she's mine, you know,
She tells me all the time, you know,
She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.
I'm so glad that she's my little girl.
She's so glad, she's telling all the world
That her baby buys her things, you know.

He buys her diamond rings, you know,
She said so.
She's in love with me and I feel fine
She's in love with me and I feel fine, mmm.

{Cut back to Percy at Tidmouth Sheds.}

Percy: Well, that was pretty good, but I expect you to do even better on this next number. Just stand right up and shout out the lyrics. Are you ready?

Emily: Hold it Percy! Ain't you forgetting something?

Percy: Forgetting something?

Emily: The setting! I keep telling you got to put the audience in the proper mood first!

Percy: For the last time I listened to your suggestion, we were nearly blown to smitheroons!

Emily: So, now you're exaggerating! Smithereens is a good ten miles from here. What do you say: give us one more chance?

Percy: Well, all right. This next song is one that really takes off.

Emily: Take-off you say, I think I just got the right thing! {quickly assembles a biplane} Contact!

{Emily flies into the sky, and crashes into Tidmouth Sheds wall, creating a hole.}

Emily: Well, what do you think? {laughs}

Percy: Let's save it for when we do: "The flighter the bumblebrain!" Sing, children.

The Beatles:
It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
I've been away now
Oh how I've been alone
Wait till I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried

But if your heart breaks
Don't wait, turn me away
And if your heart's strong
Hold on, I won't delay
Wait till I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried

I feel as though
You ought to know
That I've been good
As good as I can be
And if you do
I'll trust in you
And know that you
Will wait for me

It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
I've been away now
Oh how I've been alone
Wait till I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried

But if your heart breaks
Don't wait, turn me away
And if your heart's strong
Hold on, I won't delay
Wait till I come back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried

It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
I've been away now
Oh, how I've been alone

Part Two

Narrator: Diesel was running easy in the country, the coaches weren’t having a good time though. Diesel was too cross to argue with the coaches' complaints. He was thinking about what to say to Thomas or Molly the next time they met when all of a sudden, he was diverted into a siding by frozen points, he applied his brakes, but the rails were so icy that he ploughed through the buffers and into a snowy pile in a field.

Diesel: {muffled} Oh, $#%&!

Narrator: But his cursing was muffled by snow. Then came more trouble. Diesel felt cold on the inside of his tank. His driver checked him.

Diesel's driver: Your water tank has frozen. We need some anti-freeze.

Narrator: He telephoned for help from Percy and Stanley.

Diesel's driver: They’re going to be awhile. Duncan has been rocking and rolling and fell off the track.

Narrator: Diesel felt very cold. It was 20:00pm when Percy arrived with anti-freeze. Stanley arrived with Rocky the railway crane and lifted Diesel and his coaches back on the tracks. Percy hauled Diesel to the fitting yards to warm up. The next day, Diesel was warmed up but the snow hadn’t melted. Sir Topham Hatt arrived, he he wasn't very pleased.

Sir Topham Hatt: You are a very careless engine, Diesel! I thought you could manage coaches, but I was wrong. So, I've put you on coal duty with Eagle, Edward, and Henry.

Narrator: Diesel was pleased.

Sir Topham Hatt: And, you are going to wear a snowplough!

Diesel: S-S-Snowplough?!

Sir Topham Hatt: Yes Diesel, all diesels are now required to wear a snowplow.

Narrator: Diesel's heart melted. He vowed he'd never boast about snow ever again.
