EU06 is the code-name for an English electric locomotive in service by the Polish railway operator (PKP).

History

The EU06s were delivered to Poland in 1962-65. These locomotives were designed strictly according to Polish requirements. They are roughly similar to the British Rail Class 83, which were built by English Electric during the same period.

Introduction

All EU06 entered service in Kraków, and it was the first time that new locos were not introduced in Warsaw.

Present day

There are still 14 units of EU06 in operation, but withdrawal of this series is being considered.
