GER Class C53

The Great Eastern Railway Class C53, classified as Class J70 by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) was a class of 0-6-0 tramway locomotive used on the Wisbech and Upwell Tramway from the 1930s to the 1950s. They were designed by James Holden. They replaced earlier GER Class G15 0-4-0 of similar appearance.


No Great Eastern C53's survived, but there are plans to build a replica of a GER C53 Locomotive which will represent the Toby character (see below) for preservation along with a replica of a G15 which proceeded the C53.
