Irish Traction Group

The Irish Traction Group is a railway preservation society dedicated to preserving diesel locomotives from Irish Railways. It was formed in 1989, with the intention of attempting to preserve at least one example of every type of diesel locomative to have operated on Irish Rail.
They currently own 10 locomotives, as follows:-
- 001(A) class: A3R and A39
- 101(B) class: B103
- 201(C) class: C226 and C231
- 601(G) class: G601
- 611(G) class: G611, G616 and G617
- NIR 1 Class: 1
They are based in Carrick-on-Suir in County Tipperary, and operate occasional railtours on the main line. Current campaigns include fundraising to secure two 121(B) class locomotives (nos. 124 and 134) for preservation.
