Indian locomotive class NDM-1
From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere
NDM-1 is a class of Narrow Gauge Diesel locomotives built for Indian State Railways in 1956. They are B-B Diesel Hydraulic locomotives.
The only difference between the NDM-1 class and the ZDM-1 is the gauge. NDM-1s are 2ft gauge, the ZDM-1s are 2ft 6inch gauge. Conversion between gauges (and thus Classes) is possible and has been carried out on three locomotives.
Each locomotive consists of three sections, Two identical 4 wheeled power units with a cab suspended between the two. They are articulated in the same way as the Swiss electric locomotives (a design also used in India) known as a Crocodile.
