Siân is a 2-4-2 tender engine built to 15" gauge by Trevor Guest Engineering Co. of Stourbridge to a design by Ernest Twining, which dated from 1951. She is a sister to Katie. She is currently owned by the Siân Project Group, a subgroup of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Preservation Society and is based at the Windmill Farm Railway in Lancashire. She was originally built for the Fairbourne Railway and arrived there in 1965. Whilst Katie was sold on to Haigh Hall in Lancashire, Siân was converted to an American outline in 1985 and then was purchased by the Littlecote Park in Wiltshire. Sydney, the name given to Siân after reoutlining, was up for sale again in 1990 and a group of Ravenglass members consorted in an attempt to buy the engine however they were outbid by the embryonic Bure Valley Railway, who were in greater need of a locomotive to kickstart their new line. She was up for sale again in 1994 when the Norfolk railway had constructed its own locomotives and was saved by the Ravenglass group. After thorough overhauls and maintenance, she is currently away from Ravenglass, working on a line which has shorter trains and far less workload. She occasionally visits other railways for galas and events.
