- 1884 – The Philadelphia Traction Company in Pennsylvania opens a cable railway on Columbia Avenue and Master Street.[1]
- 1909 – The Jamestown, Franklin and Clearfield Railroad, a predecessor of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad, is formed in Michigan through the merger of the Franklin and Clearfield Railroad, Jamestown and Franklin Railroad, Central Trunk Railway and Jackson Coal Railroad.[2]
- 1912 – Pere Marquette Railroad and Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad reach an agreement that will allow Pere Marquette to install a second track at Carlton interlocking in Michigan; Pere Marquette agrees to cover the costs of moving the adjacent station.[3]
