- 1868 – The Omaha and Southwestern Railroad is incorporated in Nebraska.[1]
- 1902 – The Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York Railroad, a predecessor of the Pennsylvania Tunnel and Terminal Railroad, is incorporated.
- 1907 – The first electric locomotive-hauled train enters Grand Central Terminal in New York City following a new regulation that requires all trains using the terminal to be electrically powered.
- 1970 – The Interstate Commerce Commission approves the discontinuation of the California Zephyr.
