- 1863 – The Brooklyn and Rockaway Beach Railroad, later to become the Canarsie Line of the Long Island Rail Road, is incorporated.[1]
- 1903 – The Louisiana and Arkansas Railway, later part of the Kansas City Southern Railway, is extended southward to Jena, Louisiana.[2]
- 1959 – Beeliner passenger train service is discontinued between Jackson and Bay City, Michigan.[3]
- 2004 – After a nearly four month shutdown due to technical problems, the Las Vegas Monorail reopens for regular service.
- 2007 – George Warrington, president of Amtrak 1998-2002, dies (b. 1952).[4]
