- 1883 – The International Bridge at Niagra Falls opens.[1]
- 1967 – In a test run, the Pennsylvania Railroad operates the UAC Turbotrain at 170.8 mph on the Northeast Corridor between New Brunswick and Trenton, New Jersey, setting a new speed record for a production train.[2]
- 1986 – CSX Transportation abandons the 15.3 mile long South Haven Branch in Michigan.[3]
