The Metro Monorail (originally Sydney Monorail) is a monorail that operates in the centre of Sydney. The single loop connects Darling Harbour, Chinatown and the Sydney central business and shopping districts. There are eight stations on the line and it consists of 3.6km of track. Major attractions and facilities such as the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Exhibition Centre are also served by the monorail system. It was opened in July 1988 during the Bicentenary. The monorail is operated by Connex for Metro Transport Sydney. The Metro Light Rail in Sydney is also operated by Veolia. The monorail units and track system are Von Roll MkIII.
