Lahaina-Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad
From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere
The Sugar Cane Train on the Lahaina-Kaanapali and Pacific Railroad is a heritage railway in Lāhainā, Hawaii.
A steam locomotive crosses a six-mile stretch of track. A narrator points outs sites of interest. During the trip, the Railroad crosses a 325-foot curved wooden trestle whose elevation yields panoramic views of neighboring islands and the West Maui Mountains.
Railroads traveled through Hawaii for more than 100 years, hauling sugar cane to the mills and transporting workers to the canefields.
