Funicular de Gelida

The Funicular de Gelida (Gelida funicular) is a funicular railway in the municipality of Gelida in Catalonia, Spain. The line connects Gelida station, on the RENFE (Spanish National Railways), with the town centre of Gelida, which is at a higher level. It was opened in 1924 and is owned and operated by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government Railways, FGC).[1]
The metre gauge line is 884 metres in length, and rises a distance of 110 meters with a maximum gradient of 22.2%. The cars carry 50 passengers and run at a maximum speed of 2.5 meters per second, giving a journey time of 8 minutes and a maximum capacity of 700 passengers per hour.[1]
