British Rail Class 66/7
The Class 66/7 subclass of the British Rail Class 66 consist of those locomotives operated by GB Railfreight. GBRf were the third to order class 66s after EWS and Freightliner.
No. 66709 has been painted in the livery of customer Medite Shipping (now known as Mediterranean Shipping Company (UK) Ltd) and named Joseph Arnold Davies. Some have gained First Group logos on the cab front. Nos. 66701-7 have old style light clusters whereas 66708 onwards have the newer "group standard" light clusters.
Note that DRS Class 66/4 are also blue. The 66/7s can be distinguished by their orange cabs, GBRf branding, and do not have red a buffer beam.
Nos 66718-22 are painted in modified Metronet livery, Metronet having gone into partnership with GBRf rather than applying for an operating licence themselves. These are also the different "Mk2" low emission design, with a third door on one side and similar to the Class 66/9s.
The company has recently placed a further follow-on order for 5 more locomotives (66723-727) with delivery likely in 2007.
