Savannah, Americus and Montgomery Railroad
From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere
The Savannah, Americus & Montgomery Railroad (SA&M) was a former U.S. railroad that ran across southern Georgia and into south-central Alabama. The line, from Savannah, Georgia, through Americus and Albany to Montgomery, Alabama, ran from 1888 to 1895, when it was sold at foreclosure. It later went on to become two separate and independent companies: the Georgia and Alabama Railway was the main part, with a smaller part from Cordele to Albany becoming the Albany Northern Railway.
