- 1852 – The New York and Harlem Railroad opens an extension north to Chatham Four Corners with a connection to the Albany and West Stockbridge Railroad, and trackage rights northwest to Albany.
- 1897 – Pittsburg, Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad files articles of consolidation in Ohio as the company did in Pennsylvania the day before.[1]
- 1916 – Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway introduces the Scout passenger train service between Chicago and Los Angeles.
- 1947 – Baltimore and Ohio Railroad introduces the Cincinnatian passenger train service between Baltimore, Maryland, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
