- 1867 – Brush Street Station in Detroit, Michigan, opens.[1]
- 1868 – The Colorado Central and Pacific Railroad, which began construction of a new line between Denver and Golden two weeks earlier, is reorganized as the Colorado Central Railroad.
- 1940 – Santa Fe Railroad discontinues the Chicago-Los Angeles-San Francisco Navajo service.
- 1959 – Santa Fe Railroad locomotive #20C, leading San Diegan train number 75, collides with a gravel truck at a grade crossing in Irvine, California.
- 1983 – US President Reagan signs a bill authorizing the sale of the Alaska Railroad to the state of Alaska.[2]
