- 1864 – The Flushing and Woodside Railroad is incorporated to build a railroad line connecting its namesake cities and the Long Island Rail Road.[1]
- 1873 – A second line of the Colorado Central Railroad from Forks Creek, Colorado, is extended 3.3 miles to Floyd Hill.
- 1879 – The Springfield and Western Missouri Railroad purchases the Kansas City and Memphis Railroad.[2]
- 1883 – The Long Island City and Manhattan Beach Railroad is incorporated to build a connection between the New York and Manhattan Beach Railroad and the Long Island Rail Road.[1]
- 1920 – The Washington Southern Railway is formally merged into the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad.
