- 1832 – The Philadelphia and Trenton Railroad is incorporated in Pennsylvania.[1]
- 1859 – Construction on the Hannibal and Saint Joseph Railroad reaches Saint Joseph, Missouri.[2]
- 1947 – Great Northern Railway re-equips the Empire Builder passenger train with all new diesel-electric locomotives.
