Kaikyō Line

From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere

Kaikyo Line (海峡線 Kaikyō-sen?) is an 87.8-kilometre railway line operated mainly by the Hokkaido Railway Company. The line runs from Naka-Oguni Station in Sotogahama, Aomori, through the Seikan Tunnel between Honshū and Hokkaidō, and on to Kikonai Station in Kikonai, Hokkaidō. Two stations on the Tsugaru-Kaikyo Line, Tappi-Kaitei Station and Yoshioka-Kaitei Station, are inside the Seikan Tunnel.

Several of Japan Railway's night train services use the Kaikyo Line between Honshū and Hokkaidō; from Osaka, from Tokyo, and towards Hakodate and Sapporo. The daytime Limited Express "Super Hakucho (swan)" also runs on the Kaikyo Line.
