Hisatsu Line
The Hisatsu Line (肥薩線 Hisatsu-sen?) is a railway line on Kyushu, in southern Japan that passes through Kumamoto, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima prefectures. It is part of the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) system. The Hisatsu line goes from the Kagoshima Main Line in Yatsushiro to to the Nippo Main Line in Hayato in the city of Kirishima.
By and large, the route is mountainous passing through the Kirishima range. There are no through trains on this line. Rather, trains go from Yatsushiro to Hitoyoshi, from Hitoyoshi to Yoshimatsu, and from Yoshimatsu to Hayato. Before 2000, there were trains going from Kumamoto to Miyazaki that followed the section of the Hisatsu line from Yatsushiro to Yoshimatsu.
