Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain Railway
From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere
The Chatanooga and Lookout Mountain Railway was chartered in 1887. It began operations in 1889, running from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the top of Lookout Mountain, Georgia at the Lookout Inn, a hotel at the top of the mountain. The railroad was apparently not a financial success as it was abandoned in 1899. This line should not be confused with the modern Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, a tourist line that operates nearby.
