[edit] First Issue

I've noticed there is no EMD list but there is a link on the EMD template. What I am wondering, since we've got a clean slate should we drop the GM from EMD since the company including its assets have been sold? Since we're starting from scratch we might as well use the current company name and explain the details within the article. --DP67 (talk/contribs) 01:03, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeh go for it! ;-) Bluegoblin7 07:10, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] EMD / GE lists are up..

I put up an EMD list and a GE list. Both are from the other site. But since I had a substantial part in putting both together, in adding data and formatting I'm willing to share. There are allot of red links, but for now it at least gives editors a good idea where we need to start. Sooner or later we'll worry about wording and so forth to give the articles some personality of their own.

Well done sir! May i just ask that you add {{From Wikipedia}} with the parameter being the name of the WP article? It's just for legal reasons... Bluegoblin7 08:48, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Looking through the EMD list, I saw many of the filenames that I used on my own images. Time to copy more of my images over... Slambo 14:07, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Navboxes and Infoboxes

Would anyone be offended if I changed all the navboxes and info boxes around? My primary interest is changing the colours. I really don't like that rust colour and I'd much prefer something a little more neutral like a med to light grey enough for contrast, but not jumping off the page and gouging your eyes out. Besides, the baby poop brown is too much like the other place.

--DP67 (talk/contribs) 08:42, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, please do! As i said, we like to distance ourselves from WP, but also like their editors to help here!
Bluegoblin7 08:45, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

The rust brown color on WP was chosen because rust seemed to be a color that could represent the entire industry worldwide as it appears on the side of the rails worldwide. It was also a color that wasn't already used by other WProjects. I don't object to using a different color here, I'd just like to see some consistency across articles and a sensible color choice made. Slambo 14:10, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portal...

Hi,

Just wondering what colours should the portal be, and what boxes do we want? Look at Portal:Thomas and Friends and Portal:Shining Time Station for ideas!

Bluegoblin7 10:05, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

IMO the bluish grey works just fine.. Fit's in well with the gradient blue on the logo.

Portal is now online at Portal:US Railways. Please feel free to add any of the subpages, using the format from Portal:Thomas and Friends Bluegoblin7 10:27, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Workforce:US Locomotives

I am willing to maintain the Workforce:Locomotives US under the flag of the Workforce:US project. I'm afraid I don't know enough about foreign power to over see locomotives as a whole but I'm sure I can handle US power and most EMD/GE exports. Slambo has a great deal more experience than I, so I'm not opposed to having him as the US project adviser. (That is unless he's opposed to it!:)

--DP67 (talk/contribs) 06:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, gee. Maybe I should install some stairs on this pedestal so I can climb down more easily. B-) One thing that we can do here but not at WP is complete locomotive rosters. I started with a few experiments on the BNSF Railway page; the idea is that the main railroad page will have the complete roster with each road number linked to articles showing spotting reports and additional details on the equipment. I've got a few steam era rosters in my reference library, I just haven't had a chance to go through them to add the info here yet. Slambo 12:11, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I would say if you build up an idea of what you are thinking in your Sandbox, then i don't see why not. It could even just start off as a task force, and become a child force later on. As i appear to be the current moderator of Workforces, I say go for it! BG7 12:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bot proposal and design space for this workforce

I've just started Workforce:US railways/Bots with three ideas I have for bots that could be helpful here. Any comments and design input is welcome there. Slambo (Speak) 18:52, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
