Slough & Windsor Rly Soc - Festive Photographic Comp

From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere

14th December 2007

The traditional final meeting of the year is the members' Christmas party and "Festive Photographic Competition". And for the second year running it is the last-but-one meeting! The re-scheduling is to allow our regular judge, Coral Curzon, from Windsor Camera Club, to attend.

The party is essentially a bring-and-share buffet, with a few quizzes of a railway theme for good measure. A time for SWRS members to relax and 'talk railways'.

The photographic competition is a fairly informal affair. Members may bring two slides, two prints and two digital pictures (.jpg format) to be judged, with three railway-related prizes to be awarded in each category. There are no particular 'rules': photos need not have been taken during the past twelve months; but digital photos should not have been retouched or edited; and photos must be your own work! The usual format is that all photos are presented to the audience, anonymously, two or three times. This usually results in a discussion of each photo's subject matter and quality, with Coral contributing her expert opinion before deciding on the winners.

The evening, both party and competition, is open to non-members as usual, but you should be aware that it is one of the few evenings which are more geared towards existing members than the general public.

The event will take place at 20:00 at The Manor, adjacent to Slough Station, although members usually start gathering from 19:30. All are welcome. Note - there is an entrance fee to cover the running costs of The Manor.
