- 1840 – Samuel W. Fordyce, president of St. Louis, Arkansas and Texas Railway 1886-1889, St. Louis Southwestern Railway 1890-1898, and Kansas City Southern Railway in 1900, is born (d. 1919).[1][2]
- 1908 – The Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis Electric Railway begins regular interurban service running from Liberty Street in Baltimore, Maryland to its terminal at 15th and H Streets NE in Washington, D.C.
- 1912 – The Cairo, Truman and Southern Railroad, a predecessor of St. Louis Southwestern Railroad (also known as The Cotton Belt), is incorporated.[3]
- 1926 – The Great Northern Railway renames the station of Garry in Flathead County, Montana to Hidden Lake in reference to a lake that is somewhat hidden in nearby woods.[4]
