- 1837
– The Northern Indiana Railroad, a predecessor of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway, organizes its new Board of Directors following a company name change earlier in the month.[1] - 1861
– The Monticello Railroad is chartered in Illinois.[2] - 1882 – The Port Huron and Northwestern Railroad opens its line connecting Marlette and East Saginaw, Michigan.[3]
- 2004 – An eastbound empty Union Pacific Railroad train of autorack cars collides with a loaded train of hopper cars at about the 25th car behind the locomotives (pictured); both crewmen on the autorack train died in the accident.[4]
