Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad

From TrainSpottingWorld, for Rail fans everywhere

The Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad is a heritage railway and working railroad in Middletown, Pennsylvania just outside of Hershey and Harrisburg.

The line uses both steam and diesel locomotives for passenger excursions. Coaches are 1920’s-vintage Delaware, Lackawanna & Western, boarded at the 1891 Freight Station in Middletown. Excursions are an 11-mile ride along the Swatara Creek and Union Canal, while a narrator relates history of the Canal.

There is also a collection of railway rolling stock displayed in the Middletown Yard.

Freight service has been provided since 1976 and tourist passenger service has been provided since 1986.
